Peter Kail

Genealogy, Williams, Hume, and Nietzsche

In Truth and Truthfulness Bernard Williams introduces his notion of genealogy and illustrates its features by appealing to aspects of the work of Friedrich Nietzsche and David Hume. Williams, however, does not discuss these two thinkers in any great detail in this connection. This paper, therefore, goes into further detail, and contests some key claims Williams makes about these two thinkers.
