Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Democracy
The influence of artificial intelligence and technologies in the relations between citizens and governments and, consequently, their impact on democracy are the focus for the seminar “Artificial Intelligence and Democracy”, promoted by the Municipal Chamber of Alcochete in partnership with NOVA University Lisbon, School of Communication and Media Studies and with the support of Omaggio and Praia do Sal.
Speakers will address specific issues related to the use of AI technologies to improve the interaction of governments with citizens, but also with the potential to harm them, namely, in the sense of allowing greater control and surveillance by authoritarian regimes.
In addition, the seminar also aims to discuss the future: What challenges are presented in terms of fundamental and applied research on the use of AI in law, ethics, communication science, political studies and computer science?
