João Rui Pereira is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at NOVA FCSH working on a thesis project “The technological mediation of human with digital technologies starting from Don Ihde’s postphenomenology”, funded by a FCT grant and supervised by the Professors Nuno Venturinha (IFILNOVA & NOVA FCSH) and Paula Cristina Pereira (IF & FLUP). He holds a bachelor’s (2012) and master’s degree (2015, dissertation: Argumentation and logic in Chaïm Perelman) in Philosophy by the University of Coimbra.
He participated as a grantee/research assistant with the projects “EcoReason: Ecological reasoning and decision making in innovation-oriented industry sectors at the periphery of Europe: Reconciling divergent values and interests” (FCT, TUBITAK/0010/2014), in 2018; “METACARE: Evidence based metaphors for diabetes care” (FCT, PTDC/FER‐FIL/28278/2017), in 2019-2020; and “DIALLS: Dialogue and Argumentation for Literacy Learning in Schools” (H2020, GA nº 770045), in 2020-2021, all hosted at IFILNOVA.
He also worked as research manager in R&D units such as Institute for Medieval Studies – NOVA FCSH in 2017 and Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon in 2019; and more recently as research manager of the “URBiNAT project: Healthy corridors as drivers of social housing neighbourhoods for the co-creation of social, environmental and marketable NBS” (H2020, GA nº 776783) at the Centre for Social Studies – University of Coimbra, in 2021-2024.
