João Sàágua
Rector of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and Full Professor at the Department of Philosophy
João Sàágua is Rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Full Professor at the Department of Philosophy at NOVA FCSH, where he teaches Philosophy of Communication, Logic and Argumentation Theory. He obtained a PhD in Contemporary Philosophy (Husserl vs. Carnap and Quine) in 1990, having been a visiting scholar at Oxford University in 1995-1996. His research interests focus on nullable argumentation, enthymeme and argumentation as rational action. On these topics, he has published several books and articles. He was one of the founders of IFILNOVA, formerly called the Institute of Philosophy of Language (IFL), of which he was deputy director. Between 2005 and 2013 he was Director of NOVA FCSH.
