José Fernandes
PhD Student

José Fernandes holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Coimbra. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, NOVA University Lisbon. His Master’s thesis focused on the phenomenology of intersubjectivity in Husserl.


Throughout his career, he has held various positions in companies and public institutions related to training, consultancy and the implementation of transnational European projects in the field of education.


He is currently a PhD candidate with a scholarship from the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) with a project focused on the phenomenology of the digital world and its relationship with the Other and supervised by Professor António de Castro Caeiro. His areas of interest include classical phenomenology, social philosophy, philosophy of technology, especially the influence of the digital world on our society, and Japanese philosophy, namely Kiyoshi Miki’s technological ontology and the Kyoto School of Philosophy.
