Giovanni Damele, an integrated member of EPLab, will participate as a speaker at the conference “Gates to democratic law: the historical position of legal scholars and lawyers in the construction of democratic values and democratic legal order (1960-1978)” [Portas para o direito democrático: a posição histórica de juristas e advogados na construção dos valores democráticos e da ordem legal democrática (1960-1978)], which will take place on 15 and 16 April 2026 at the National Library of Portugal. His presentation, entitled “Itália e Portugal: duas experiências constituintes em comparação”, will be held on 15 April, between 14:30 and 16:00. The researcher is also a member of the GLAW project, within the framework of which this conference is organised.

The conference will also feature André Santos Campos and Inês Pinheiro, both from EPLab, as moderators.

This conference brings together a group of distinguished specialists in Contemporary History, Philosophy, and Law to discuss the process of constructing the democratic legal order in Portugal and Spain, as well as its influences and distinctive characteristics.
