On 18 November at 18h00, NOVA FCSH will host the presentation of “Encontros-Antígona”, an initiative by Colectivo SUL – Associação Cultural e Artística, as part of the Santander Artistic Residencies Programme. The session marks the conclusion of a two-semester process dedicated to research and artistic creation centred on Sophocles’ Antigone. Throughout this process, different translations and interpretations of the tragedy were explored — including the translation by Professor João Constâncio, an integrated member of IFILNOVA and a participant in the project — as well as its dialogues with fields such as Literature, Music, Painting and Photography.

The presentation proposes a dialogue between Greek tragedy and contemporary issues such as fraternity, love and power, concluding with a reflection and discussion with the audience.

The project brings together participants with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including members of the academic community, professional and non-professional actors and actresses, as well as people with no previous acting experience. This diversity creates an opportunity for the sharing of knowledge and experiences and for the development of artistic expression, creativity and critical thinking.

“Encontros-Antígona” will take place in a hybrid format: in person, in Room B305 of Tower B, at the Avenida de Berna campus, and online via Zoom.
