Admission requirements and additional information
Successful candidates must:
a) Hold a PhD in Philosophy, relevant to the project’s thematic focus, obtained within the three years prior to the date of submission of the fellowship application;
b) Have carried out the research leading to the award of the PhD at an institution other than the host institution for the fellowship;
c) Not to have exceeded, upon the conclusion of the relevant fellowship contract — including any possible renewals — a cumulative period of three years on this type of fellowship, whether consecutive or non-consecutive;
d) Not to have previously held a postdoctoral research fellowship contract with the FCSH.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate proficiency in English.
The grants are expected to start in 1 September 2026.
The monthly pay is €1,901,00, per the salary table for research fellowships directly funded by FCT, I.P. in Portugal. Fellowship holders who are not covered by any social protection regime can exercise their right to social security through adherence to the voluntary social insurance regime (SSV), under the terms of the Contributory Schemes of the Social Security System, if they choose to enroll in it, as well as personal accident insurance.
