The NOVA Institute of Philosophy is seeking to recruit one Post-Doctoral Fellow within the scope of the project CORES — Communicative Paths to Righting Epistemic Wrongs, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia – FCT (project reference 2023.14900.PEX).

Research Field

Philosophy

Workplan

The fellow will be integrated into the project team and will contribute, alongside and in collaboration with the PI and the CORES team, to the exploration of the distinctively communicative dynamics that help bring about, sustain and amplify epistemic harms, injuries, and injustices. More broadly, they will actively contribute to the development and achievement of the project’s scientific and dissemination aims. This will include, specifically:

  • Conducting a review of discussions within social and political epistemology, social philosophy of language and political philosophy, identified as relevant to the project’s research questions and objectives. The results of this bridge-building task will be showcased in one or two survey articles as well as a literature review report, which the post-doctoral fellow will help prepare and co-author.
  • Exploring, and laying the groundwork for future investigation of, communicative pathways to ameliorate and repair epistemic wrongs, by drawing on the conceptual-analytical resources of the above-mentioned literature strands.
  • Contributing, together with the PI and the other team members, to the production of the project’s outputs (reports, scientific publications, etc.).
  • Collaborating in the day-to-day management of the project, in both its scientific and administrative dimensions.
  • Presenting the results of the research developed during the fellowship at national and international academic events (conferences, seminars, etc).

Application deadline

The call is open between March 27, 2025 and 11:59 pm (Lisbon time) on April 27, 2025.
