Curiosity under discussion at the National Library
Dina Mendonça is taking part in the “Science is Beautiful!” event series

Dina Mendonça, a researcher at ArgLab/IFILNOVA, will take part in the third session of the “Science is Beautiful!” (“A Ciência é Linda!”) series on 21 April at 17:30, at the National Library of Portugal.

Organised by the Study & Research in Lisbon project, promoted by Lisbon City Council, this series features a set of informal conversations about science for the city, exploring themes such as attention, memory, curiosity, rhythm and time.

The third session, entitled “Curiosity: Adaptation and Innovation” (“Curiosidade: Adaptação e Inovação”), will feature Dina Mendonça (IFILNOVA), a philosopher, and Miguel Castanho (GIMM/FMUL), a biochemist, and will be moderated by Ricardo Santos (ISAMB). The conversation will focus on the role of curiosity as a driver of discovery, creativity and transformation, highlighting its importance for science, innovation and society. Curiosity is presented as a capacity associated with wonder, questioning and discovery, enabling us to adapt, innovate and better understand the world, and is regarded as a central element in responding to contemporary challenges.

The session will be conducted in Portuguese.
Admission is free, subject to prior registration and venue capacity.
