Aida Returns
Public screening of the film Aida Returns (2023), by Carol Mansour (76 min), with a light meal and an informal exchange after the screening, organised by Frames of Palestine (Cinelab/IFILNOVA/FCSH) in partnership with Olhares do Mediterrâneo — Women’s Film Festival/CRIA, Associação Graal and Galeria Monumental.
SYNOPSIS
Aida left Yafa in 1948 to settle in Beirut, then in Montreal. Suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s, she lost her memory along with her sense of identity, except for her memories of Yafa. When she passed away, her daughter decided to “return” her to Yafa. With the help of a set of willing strangers, Aida makes it back to rest where she belongs.
Aida was born March 18, 1927, in Yafa, Palestine. On March 18, 2024, join Aida as she defies all obstacles and returns to her homeland. To celebrate her birthday, this film will be screened in Lisboa, Barcelona, Córdoba, Madrid, Beirute, Cairo, Londres, Paris e Toronto.
BIO
Lebanese/ Canadian of Palestinian origin, Carol Mansour is an independent documentary film maker with over 25 years in documentary production. Carol’s work reflects her concern for human rights and social justice, covering issues such as migrant workers, refugees, environmental issues, mental health, rights of the disabled, war and memory, right to health, and child labor.
