Indigenous Worldviews: The cinema of the Tawna collective in dialogue with the writing of Silvia Cusicanqui
The Cinema and Ecosophy Reading Group launches its series of sessions with a meeting devoted to a discussion of Indigenous cosmovisions, drawing on readings from Un Mundo Ch’ixi es posible, a work by Bolivian sociologist, historian and activist Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui, in dialogue with excerpts from visual works and films by the Tawna collective, an anti-colonial group of Sápara, Kichwa and mestizo artists whose practice grows out of the forest, understood as a territory of memory, resistance and vision. This session will be joined by Bertha Diaz, Equatorian researcher, teacher and editor, whose work explores the connections between body, thought and writing.
The Cinema and Ecosophy Reading Group sessions are organised by Maria Ejarque and Maria Irene Aparício as part of the project “Cinema and Ecosophy: Values, Econarratives and Deep Ecology (CINEdeepECO)”. To receive the link to join the online session, please email maparicio@fcsh.unl.pt.
The session will be conducted in Portuguese and Spanish (Castilian).
