Reading Group on Nietzsche’s Untimely Meditations

Organised by Master’s and PhD students affiliated with IFILNOVA, the Reading Group on Nietzsche’s Untimely Meditations aims to foster dialogue between the philosophical community and the Lisbon Nietzsche Group.

The initiative proposes a close reading of Nietzsche’s four Untimely Meditations, a collection of texts that is essential for understanding the early development of his philosophy and the emergence of themes that would later become central to his thought. Although these writings have received less scholarly attention than many of Nietzsche’s other works, they contain highly significant ideas and provide an excellent starting point for philosophical discussion.

The reading group is open to anyone interested in Nietzsche’s philosophy, with a particular focus on undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students. Each session will be devoted to the reading and discussion of a selected section of the texts, combining a brief introductory presentation with an open discussion.

The sessions will begin on 25 September 2026 and will take place monthly on Fridays at 13h, at the FCSH, NOVA University Lisbon (Colégio Almada Negreiros, Campolide Campus).

Participation is open, subject to prior registration. For further information or to express your interest in participating, please contact Franco Manuel Luján at francolujan2@hotmail.com.

The sessions will be conducted in Portuguese.
