Anastasia Lukovnikova
PhD Student

A programmer and a film researcher based in Lisbon. Initially trained in political science at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow, Anastasia later enrolled in the directing program at the High Courses for Scriptwriters and Film Directors (VKSR), one of Russia’s oldest film schools.

 

Between 2012 and 2017, Anastasia worked in the production of independent cinema in Russia and Brazil, gaining experience across all areas of production—from project development and financing to being 1st AD.

 

Between 2017 and 2018, Anastasia focused on first-person cinema research as part of her master’s studies in aesthetics and artistic studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at NOVA University Lisbon, under the supervision of Professor Margarida Medeiros.

 

Since 2019, Anastasia has been part of the team at IndieLisboa – International Film Festival, where she coordinated programming until the 2024 edition. She currently continues as a programmer for the International Feature Film Competition, having contributed to the selection of multiple festival sections over the years.

 

Since September 2024, Anastasia has been pursuing her Ph.D. research, funded by FCT, with the focus on collaborative practices in film programming, under the supervision of the researcher Stefanie Baumann at CineLab/IFILNOVA.

 

She was a fellow at the 2021 edition and a participant in the 2023 and 2024 editions of Doc’s Kingdom International Seminar on Documentary Cinema (Portugal), as well as an online participant in The Flaherty Film Seminar 2022 (US).

 

She is a member of MUTIM (Mulheres Trabalhadoras das Imagens em Movimento) association, a collaborator of Rizoma Cooperativa Integral, and part of the Laboratório da Cave collective, dedicated to the practice and study of 16mm and 8mm film.
