Devon Cass is a Junior Researcher working on theories of social and intergenerational justice, with particular focus on relational egalitarianism and republicanism. Previously, he was a Research Associate at the University of Manchester (MANCEPT) with the project “Analysing and Critiquing Relations of (In)equality”, led by Christian Schemmel, and a postdoctoral researcher at IFILNOVA with the project “Present Democracy for Future Generations“, led by André Santos Campos. During March 2024 he held a Hoover Fellowship at UCLouvain, Belgium. He received his PhD from the Australian National University in 2021, where he was supervised by Philip Pettit, and was a visitor to Princeton’s Center for Human Values. Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Devon completed his MA in Philosophy at Simon Fraser University and his BA in Philosophy and Political Science at McGill University. His recent work appears in journals such as CRISPP, Politics, Philosophy & Economics, Res Publica, Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy, and Law and Philosophy, and he is the author of Igualdade published by Almedina press in 2024.
