Diego Hoefel is a professor at the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil) and an associate researcher at CineLab at IFILNOVA (Portugal). He holds a Ph.D. in Artistic Studies from NOVA University (Portugal) and in Cinema from the Federal Fluminense University (Brazil). His work focuses on the relationships between politics, contemporary media, and their narrative genres. He is also one of the coordinators of the Specialist Interest Group on Humor and Conflict in the Global South for the International Society of Humor Studies. Additionally, he works in cinema as a director and screenwriter. The Reservoir, his first feature film as a director, premiered in 2023 at the Rotterdam Film Festival (IFFR).
