Sofia Guedes Vaz graduated as Environmental Engineer at the New University of Lisbon, has a MSC on Ecological Management from the Imperial College, London and obtained a PhD on Philosophy of Environment and Nature from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) and University of East Anglia (UK). Sofia has worked in several public and private organizations, both national and international in the environmental field. Academically, Sofia is interested in the interface between environment and philosophy. How to better communicate environmental issues is one of her passions and she was part of a group that communicated science through stand-up comedy. Sofia walked alone from Lisbon to Oporto (370km) as an environmental walk. She spoke daily (the 16 days of the walk) on one of the main Portuguese radio stations, TSF on sustainability and walking. Sofia is currently the President of the Portuguese Society of Environmental Ethics.
