Cinema e Filosofia: Encontros e Reflexões
New book available in open access

CineLab is proud to announce the release of a new essay collection edited by Patrícia Castello Branco and Susana Viegas, exploring cinema not merely as an art form, but as a medium of thought. Published by Tinta-da-China in partnership with IFILNOVA, Cinema and Philosophy: Encounters and Reflections is now available in an open-access edition in Portuguese.

The essays in this collection cover topics ranging from ecology and non-human sensory experience to the virtual and dreamlike dimensions of cinema, as well as the analysis of representation and reality in moving images.

This collection includes essays by Stefanie Baumann, Erik Bordeleau, Patrícia Castello Branco, Maile Colbert, Susana Nascimento Duarte, and Susana Viegas, researchers affiliated with CineLab, a pioneering space for philosophical reflection on cinema and philosophy, based at the Institute of Philosophy of NOVA University Lisbon.

Cinema and Philosophy: Encounters and Reflections is an essential resource for scholars, students, and cinephiles alike, offering thought-provoking insights into the evolving landscape of cinema studies. By approaching cinema as a medium of thought, these essays encourage readers to reconsider the ways in which we perceive and engage with the world through moving images.
