Religion in Classical Pragmatism — Peirce, James, Royce and Dewey
7–31 July
Alberto Oya Márquez
ONLINE
Classical Pragmatism is a philosophical movement that originated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Notable figures associated with it include Charles Sanders Peirce (1839 – 1914), William James (1842 – 1910), Josiah Royce (1855 – 1916) and John Dewey (1859 – 1952). The aim of this course is to offer students a characterization of the core claims of Pragmatism, while giving special emphasis on the way these authors conceived of religion.
