A Critique of the ‘Extended Cognition Narrative’
Given the metaphysical-explanatory stalemate between the theories of Extended and Embedded cognition, some authors have proposed moral arguments according to which we should embrace EXT for its morally preferable consequences (EXT narrative). In this presentation I argue that neither EMB or EXT have a substantive moral content per se and that the EXT narrative assumes a problematic conception of agency. To conclude, I consider a possible alternative framework for addressing the moral concerns of the EXT narrative.
