Nuno Venturinha elected President of the SPF
Portuguese Philosophical Society

Nuno Venturinha, Full Professor, Head of the Department of Philosophy at the NOVA University of Lisbon and an integrated member of ArgLab, was elected President of the Portuguese Philosophical Society [Sociedade Portuguesa de Filosofia (SPF)] on 12 December, succeeding André Barata.


Alongside Nuno Venturinha, the new Executive Board includes Filipa Afonso, from the University of Lisbon; Domingos Faria, from the University of Porto; Célia Teixeira, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; and António Lopes, a seconded secondary school teacher.


Founded in 1977, the Portuguese Philosophical Society (SPF) is a non-profit scientific institution that acts as an interlocutor with cultural and governmental bodies whose actions influence the development of philosophical studies in Portugal. The SPF promotes philosophical reflection through research projects, conferences, meetings between teachers and researchers, open courses, and other academic or editorial activities.
