Nuno Venturinha
Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Philosophy

Nuno Venturinha is a tenured faculty member and currently Deputy Head of the Department of Philosophy at the NOVA University of Lisbon. He taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Lisbon and as a visiting professor at the Universities of São Paulo and Valencia. He has also been a visiting researcher at the Universities of Bergen, Cambridge, Helsinki, Innsbruck and Oxford. He serves on the advisory boards of various institutions, journals and series, including the School of Liberal Arts at the University of WollongongNordic Wittgenstein Review and Nordic Wittgenstein Studies, and is co-editor of Wittgenstein-Studien. His current research focuses on epistemic contextualism, the epistemology of religious belief and Wittgensteinian hinge epistemology. He is the author of Description of Situations: An Essay in Contextualist Epistemology (Springer, 2018) as well as the editor of Wittgenstein After His Nachlass (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and The Textual Genesis of Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations (Routledge, 2013). Among other projects, he is working on a book-length manuscript titled Wittgenstein on Belief Formation, under contract with Cambridge University Press. In addition, he has published in journals such as AnalysisBritish Journal for the History of PhilosophyJournal of Philosophical ResearchLogos & Episteme, PhilosophiaPhilosophical Investigations, Philosophy and The Philosophical Quarterly.
