Álvaro Domínguez-Armas
Research Assistant and Invited Professor

I am a Research Assistant and Invited Professor at NOVA University Lisbon (Portugal). In November 2024, I completed my PhD in Communication Sciences, with a specialisation in argumentation theory, at NOVA University Lisbon. I was trained as a philosopher at the University of La Laguna (Spain), where I earned two Master’s degrees: one in Logic and Philosophy of Science and another in Teacher Training.

My research spans philosophy of language (speech act theory, argumentation theory), communication studies (hate speech), and political theory (social movements). My published work explores topics such as: the argumentative structure of implicit hate speech, how hate speech undermines individuals’ capacity to engage in public debate, and communicative strategies to counter hate speech.
