Alexandre Braga

Alexandre Nascimento Braga Teixeira, known as Alexandre Braga, is a PhD  candidate in Communication Sciences at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Alexandre completed his undergraduate studies in São Paulo – Brazil, his birthplace. He has a major in Social Communication and a minor in Cinema. After that, he started a long professional trajectory in both countries which culminated  with the creation of his film production company “BASE Comunicação Audiovisual”, in Lisbon, in the year 2000.


In 2018, he completed his masters degree in Film Project Development with Specialization in Filmic Narratives through the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema – Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa. He wrote a dissertation called “The importance of the ritual act in the narrative structure of “Num Rio”: feature film script” under the supervision of Professor Doutor João Maria Mendes.
His current project is named “The Rituals of Cinema – The relationships between character and spectator in contemporary cinema narratives”.  His research interests lie in the areas related to the problems within the mechanisms of the message, a field of studies that range from film studies to areas such as narratology, anthropology, philosophy and cultural studies.
