Álvaro Domínguez-Armas
PhD Student

I am a PhD student at the IFILNOVA’s ArgLab with a research scholarship by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT, 2020-2024) (DFA/BD/9683/2020). I am a member of the COST Action project European Network for Argumentation and Public Policy Analysis (PI: Marcin Lewiński). In 2017 I finished my BA degree in Philosophy at University of La Laguna (Spain) where I also earned a MA degree in Logic and Philosophy of Science (2017/2018) with the MA thesis ‘Civil disobedience from argumentation theory’.

My current research focuses on developing an analysis of political activism from argumentation theory. My thesis ‘Communicative activism as a strategy for creating a fair argumentative context’, supervised by prof. Marcin Lewiński, involves contributions from philosophy of language (speech act theory, argumentation theory), communicative studies (hate speech), and political theory (social movements).
