PhD Student

Inês Pinheiro is a PhD student in Moral and Political Philosophy at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA FCSH). She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations (June 2022), and a master’s degree in Political Philosophy (January 2025), from the same university. She was awarded a master’s research grant for the project “Hope and Nostalgia in the Philosophical-Political Thought of Judith Shklar”, which she is continuing with her doctoral work, “A ‘Shklarian’ Approach for the Construction of a Realist Liberalism with Social Roots”, for which she also received a research grant, from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). In both research projects, she has been supervised by Professor Giovanni Damele. Her research interests centre on political thought, in its philosophical, normative and historical dimensions, namely modern and contemporary philosophy. In particular, she focuses on Enlightenment thought, and the realist and liberal currents, with an emphasis on the ideas and influences of the political theorist Judith Nisse Shklar (1928-1992).
