Mariana Varela Câmara holds a BA in Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo (USP), an MA in Sociology from NOVA FCSH, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Philosophy at the same institution. During her master’s degree, she studied the relationship between urbanism, the longue durée, and social movements under flexible accumulation capitalism, bringing together theoretical perspectives from David Harvey, the French Regulation School, and contemporary Marxist theory. She currently focuses on the study of non-human subjects in philosophy, drawing on process philosophy and phenomenology to explore ways of rethinking humanism. She is a writer and poet, and has published “Enigmas de Jaguar e Jasmim” (2019) and “Rotativa” (2021) with Editora Urutau. She writes a monthly column for Artecapital on aesthetics and philosophy. Her work has also appeared in literary anthologies and journals.
