Cinema and Ecosophy: Values, Econarratives and Deep Ecology

The research project “Cinema and Ecosophy: Values, Econarratives and Deep Ecology” explores the intersection between cinema, ecology and society, analyzing how environmental narratives, and more specifically eco-narratives and forms of cinema, highlight the principles of deep ecology, and the respective values in a holistic perspective, enhancing cultural and political discourses and civic consciousness. Through an interdisciplinary approach, the study will analyze diverse cinematic traditions, including exploration of contemporary developments and emerging new media technologies. The project aims to advance ecocinema scholarship and provide theoretical and practical frameworks for researchers, educators, filmmakers, activists and policy makers, enabling them to use cinema as a tool for ecological and civic awareness and action.
