António de Carvalho Pais holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at NOVA University Lisbon, and a degree in Economics from Nova SBE, part of the same university. His doctoral research focused on the notion of thought in Ludwig Wittgenstein, resulting in the dissertation titled “The Grammar of Thought in Wittgenstein: from the Tractatus to the Big Typescript”. His most recent contribution to Wittgenstein studies is titled “L. Wittgenstein and the Currents of Portuguese Philosophical Thought”, a text included in the book Global History of Portuguese Philosophy (forthcoming from Temas e Debates publishing house). He has also published texts that engage philosophically with various authors of Portuguese literature.
